Senior Backend Engineer - Live Events & Ticketing SaaS

About the role

A fast-growing B2B point-of-sale and distribution platform serving secondary event ticketing brokers across North America is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer. You will design and maintain the high-throughput engine behind real-time ticket distribution and pricing, with end-to-end ownership of backend services and public REST APIs. The role sits in a core product team and involves direct collaboration with US engineering leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain high-throughput backend services and public REST APIs on a multi-tenant platform
• Embed observability through structured logging, time-series metrics, data capture, Grafana and PagerDuty alerting
• Lead code reviews, champion resilient architectural patterns and optimise database schema design and system reliability
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to turn business requirements into scalable, fault-tolerant designs
• Identify technical gaps, codify engineering standards and mentor team members
• Support production services after release, including incident response and alert threshold tuning

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience building scalable, enterprise-grade systems
• Proven end-to-end ownership of production environments, including telemetry, automated testing, regression analytics and post-release support
• Hands-on experience with multi-tenant, event-driven architecture and async messaging (pub/sub, CQRS)
• Experience deploying and running services on cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP accepted)
• Advanced English and experience collaborating with US stakeholders
• Willingness to take part in on-call rotations is a plus

Required skills

• C# and .NET 8+
• SQL Server, T-SQL, schema design and query optimisation
• Prefers: Azure Service Bus, App Insights, Log Analytics / KQL, Grafana dashboards, PagerDuty, CI/CD pipelines
• Prefers: high-frequency data processing, real-time marketplaces, fintech or pricing engines; AI tooling for infrastructure and deployment automation
