Senior Automation QA Engineer - Entertainment Industry

About the role

A leading global news organization is hiring a Senior Quality Engineer through its nearshore partner Truelogic. The engineer works with the Core Web and Core Platform engineering teams on a major platform modernization initiative involving a headless frontend and backend service migration. The role owns risk-based test strategies, builds and maintains end-to-end and API automation suites in CI/CD pipelines, and partners with developers to establish testing practices.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Core Web and Core Platform teams through planning, development, testing and release.
• Analyze risks for new features, system changes and backend migrations to set testing priorities and coverage.
• Identify and fix quality gaps in headless frontend apps and backend services before launch.
• Build and maintain end-to-end test suites with Playwright or Cypress (TypeScript or JavaScript).
• Develop and maintain automated API tests for backend services and integrations.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines for reliable release validation.
• Work with developers to improve testability and embed testing practices.
• Define quality metrics, release criteria and validation strategies; use AI-assisted tools for test design and automation.
• Communicate risks, defects and coverage gaps to engineering stakeholders.

Required profile

• 4+ years in Quality Engineering or Software QA for web applications and backend systems, owning testing strategy and quality outcomes.
• Proven ability to act as a quality partner and coach alongside developers.
• Fluent English and experience collaborating with distributed engineering teams.

Required skills

• Web end-to-end automation with Playwright or Cypress and TypeScript or JavaScript.
• API test automation with REST Assured, Postman or code-based frameworks.
• Risk-based testing, test strategy and coverage prioritization.
• CI/CD integration of automated tests.
• AI-assisted tools for test design and automation.
