Venture Capital Investment Consultant

About the role

The IDB Lab Venture Capital Investments unit seeks a dynamic, client‑oriented professional with strong analytical and financial skills to support the Investment Officer in debt operations within the Loans team.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and screen deal flow for potential debt opportunities, building relationships with private‑sector stakeholders and Investment Officers across the region.
• Assess high‑impact start‑ups, coordinating sourcing, screening, structuring, due diligence, financial analysis, modeling, credit underwriting, and market analysis.
• Draft investment concept notes, memorandums, and maintain internal records of debt opportunities.
• Prepare strategic documents and presentations on the loans portfolio, pipeline, and leads.
• Support Investment Officers in supervising debt positions and coordinate country reports with other IDB Lab units.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business or related field; CFA highly valued.
• At least 5 years of transactional experience in debt operations at a financial institution, with a proven track record in financial analysis and modeling.
• Experience in Latin America and the Caribbean is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; Portuguese or French a plus.
• Citizen of a 48‑member IDB country and eligible to work without sponsorship.
