Senior Dams Engineer (Embankment)

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Dams Engineer (Embankment) to join its Panama City office. The role involves leading design, inspection, and risk analysis activities for water storage and hydropower dam projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptual to detailed design of embankment dams, retarding basins and service basins.
• Perform inspection, investigation and condition assessment of existing dams, including monitoring data review.
• Conduct alternatives analyses, feasibility studies and detailed design with strong knowledge of design drawings and specifications.
• Lead failure mode and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams and facilitate risk analysis workshops.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with AECOM operations and finance groups.
• Mentor junior staff and make independent technical decisions on complex problems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience with embankment dams, including design, inspection, rehabilitation or new construction.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
