Quality Assurance Laboratory Manager

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Laboratory Manager to lead laboratory operations in Panama City. The role involves overseeing testing activities, ensuring compliance with standards, and supporting geotechnical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day laboratory operations, verify testing requests and prepare work forecasts.
• Conduct concrete, aggregate and advanced soils tests, including consolidation, UCS rock testing, triaxial and direct shear.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, perform calibrations, routine repairs and ensure compliance with ASTM and CSA standards.
• Supervise QA/QC construction testing and inspection, orient field staff and prepare technical reports.
• Develop proposals for medium to high‑complexity geotechnical projects and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers and consultants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience with dam projects, inspection, rehabilitation or new design and construction.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Advanced soils testing procedures (consolidation, UCS, triaxial, direct shear).
• Laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration and repair.
• Knowledge of ASTM and CSA standards.
• Preparation of laboratory testing reports and technical documentation.
