Project Assistant (Logistics & NFI)

About the role

The Project Assistant will support IOM Panama's projects unit in coordinating and managing logistics for the distribution of non‑food items (NFI) during humanitarian operations. The role involves daily operational management of the Essential Items Point and ensures smooth delivery to beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing operational, administrative and financial aspects of projects in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.
• Manage daily activities of the Essential Items Point, maintaining inventory records and ensuring orderly handling of NFIs.
• Coordinate logistics support, prepare distribution reports, reconcile inventories and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Collaborate with procurement, administration and program teams, and prepare administrative and statistical reports as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma with four years relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field with two years experience.
• Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) and working knowledge of English.
• Attention to detail, ability to organize paperwork methodically, and discretion in handling client information.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming and financial rules and regulations.
• Experience working in international humanitarian or multi‑cultural settings is an advantage.
