Senior Engineering Manager – Rail Transit Systems

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead rail transit system projects, overseeing design, procurement, testing, and commissioning of rail vehicles and associated systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering and program management for rail transit and vehicle programs, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
• Manage integration of vehicle systems such as HVAC, electromechanical, braking, and communications.
• Develop technical drawings, single‑line diagrams, schematics, and schedules.
• Oversee signaling and communication system integration (ETCS, CBTC, PTC, train‑to‑ground radio, PA/CIS, fare collection, CCTV).
• Direct system commissioning, testing plans, vehicle qualification, and First Article Inspections.
• Prepare engineering budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and proposals.
• Lead client and stakeholder relationships and support business development.
• Supervise multidisciplinary engineering teams and guide vendor selection and procurement.

Required profile

• BS in Electrical, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering with at least 8 years of experience (or equivalent).
• Proven expertise in rail systems design and integration, including signaling, power distribution, train control, HVAC, and braking.
• Leadership experience managing cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Experience developing specifications, budgets, proposals, and schedules for large projects.
