Senior Cloud Platform Operations Engineer

About the role

Tigo, a leading multinational mobile, internet and cable television company present in Latin America and the leading telecommunications operator in Panama, is hiring a Senior Cloud Platform Operations Engineer. The role operates, maintains and improves the on-premise cloud IaaS services to ensure service and availability, while taking part in on-call rotations and supporting the Cloud Service Delivery team.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, manage, improve and enforce the on-premise cloud IaaS services to ensure service and availability.
• Take part in on-call rotation to provide Level 2 support and maintain high availability of the cloud platforms.
• Review daily the list of assigned tickets, resolve them on time and with the right quality, and escalate misallocated tickets to the leader so they are transferred to the Cloud Service Delivery team.
• Research, configure and follow up each ticket until it is closed in ServiceNow, and communicate incident and ticket status.
• Document incidents and requests in a shared knowledge repository accessible to the entire cloud team.
• Monitor security compliance against standards, policies and procedures, and ensure the platform adheres to regulatory, corporate and centralized governance.
• Drive technical innovation and efficiency through automation, and build working relationships with Millicom business lines and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other cloud platform operations engineers when needed.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with OpenStack (Nova, Neutron, Glance, Cinder, Swift); Ceph knowledge is a plus.
• 4+ years of hands-on Linux experience, including configuration, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vCloud technologies (vRealize Automation, vRealize Orchestrator, vSphere, ESXi, NSX-T, vRealize Operations Manager, vSAN, VCF, vCenter).
• 4+ years designing, implementing and operating IaaS/PaaS solutions at massive scale, and experience with Dell, SuperMicro or Huawei blade or rack servers.
• 4+ years of experience with public and private cloud solutions.
• Bilingual Spanish and English, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Networking (TCP/UDP, iSCSI, DNS, SSH, SSL, DHCP, virtual networking, load balancing) and security (firewalls, security groups, VPNs).
• Application monitoring and metrics, and ITIL framework.
• Scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and API consumption for CI/CD.
• Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform (Ansible also mentioned) and configuration management with code repositories (GitHub).
