Collections Specialist

About the role

As a Collections Specialist at Philips in Panama City, you will follow the collections process with a defined group of customers and key accounts, maintaining strong relationships with customers, internal finance leadership and cross-functional business partners. This is an office-based role.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an active portfolio of customer accounts and maintain ongoing customer relationships.
• Contact clients with past due balances to secure payment commitments and follow up on promised payments.
• Meet or exceed cash collection targets while reducing past due balances, bad debt exposure and other key metrics.
• Investigate disputed or short-paid invoices, identify root causes and work with internal teams to resolve them quickly.
• Escalate major collection issues to management, support cash application discrepancies and help with process improvements, agency placement proposals and bad debt write-offs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or an equivalent mix of academic and professional background.
• At least 2 years of experience in B2B collections, retention, customer service or an equivalent mix of professional background with academic studies.
• Effective communication in English.
• Willingness to work overtime when business or departmental needs require it.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUP and Pivot tables) and SAP.
• Knowledge of AI systems such as Copilot, ChatGPT or Claude is preferred.
