Technical Engineer - IT Operations

About the role

Pole Star is seeking a Technical Engineer to join its IT Operations team at the Panama office. You will be the primary on‑site IT contact, responsible for maintaining mission‑critical infrastructure and supporting all company products and systems locally.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor all Pole Star systems, networks and infrastructure at the Panama site.
• Own day‑to‑day operation of the local office network – LAN, Wi‑Fi, firewalls, switches and site‑to‑site VPN connectivity.
• Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
• Collaborate with vendors, ISPs and hardware suppliers to resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical support for AWS cloud services, databases and Microsoft AD/Entra ID.
• Act as first point of contact for staff on onboarding, off‑boarding and day‑to‑day end‑user support.
• Manage IT procurement, maintain an accurate asset register and oversee equipment lifecycle.
• Identify gaps in local infrastructure, propose improvements and document procedures in the internal knowledge base.

Required profile

• 3+ years of T1/T2 technical support experience.
• Strong troubleshooting ability for complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication in both Spanish and English.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends and best‑in‑class service delivery.
