Supervisor, Category Management

About the role

The Category Management Supervisor will lead the implementation of category‑management methodology for high‑impact strategic categories within First Quantum’s operations. Reporting to senior procurement leadership, the role combines team leadership with hands‑on sourcing execution to maximise total cost of ownership and ensure reliable supply.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the rollout of Category Management processes across strategic categories.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies based on spend analysis, market conditions and operational needs.
• Oversee end‑to‑end RFx processes, from preparation to award.
• Negotiate commercial and contractual terms with key suppliers.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance metrics and ensure contractual compliance.
• Coordinate and supervise a team of Category Advisors/Analysts.
• Collaborate with operational areas and internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
• Prepare business cases and commercial analyses for contract approvals.
• Identify cost‑optimisation and continuous‑improvement opportunities in procurement processes.
• Ensure adherence to corporate policies, safety standards and applicable regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Law or related field; postgraduate studies in Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing or Category Management are a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, contract management and supplier negotiation, preferably in industrial or mining environments.
• Proven experience leading or supervising teams.
• Advanced English (spoken and written) and fluent Spanish.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with procurement ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards or similar.
