Senior Advisor – Economic and Social Policy & Gender Equality (P-5)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Senior Advisor to lead economic and social policy initiatives and promote gender equality within its Global Programme Division. This P-5 fixed‑term position will support the development of evidence‑based solutions, policy reform, and scalable programmes that advance child development goals worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership on economic and social policy, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s child‑rights agenda.
• Design and monitor frameworks for gender‑responsive policies and programmes.
• Collaborate with Centres of Excellence and country offices to translate global policy into on‑the‑ground action.
• Lead research, analysis, and advocacy efforts on social protection, public finance, and youth economic opportunities.
• Support negotiations with governments, partners, and donors to secure resources and policy commitments.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in economics, social policy, gender studies, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (minimum 8 years) in policy analysis, public finance, or international development.
• Proven track record of influencing policy reforms at national or global level.
• Strong understanding of child poverty, social protection systems, and gender equality frameworks.
