Protection Associate (Caseworker)

About the role

The Protection Associate (Caseworker) supports the Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) programme, providing migrants with information, screening, and logistical assistance to ensure safe and dignified returns.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, transparent information to migrants interested in the AVR programme and assess their eligibility.
• Identify vulnerabilities, refer migrants to appropriate services, and implement mitigating measures.
• Organise logistical and administrative aspects of return, including consular formalities, accommodation, and transportation.
• Accompany migrants to the airport, verify travel documentation, and ensure the return process complies with international law and IOM procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with three years of relevant experience or secondary education with five years of relevant experience.
• Experience liaising with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and working on migration‑related projects.
• Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) and working knowledge of English.

Required skills

• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications, including the MiMOSA system.
