International Merchandising Representative

About the role

Ace Hardware is looking for an International Merchandising Representative, a developmental role that supports international merchandising programs driving retail sales and profitability. You will build foundational knowledge of merchandising while assisting with product selection, pricing, promotional planning, item setup, product data management and trade show preparation, collaborating with merchants, sales teams, vendors and other partners on product launches and category initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in a comprehensive training program and carry out merchandising tasks such as item starts/maintenance, price maintenance, category reviews, promotional planning, show prep and item lifecycle support.
• Study the retail marketplace and help build and maintain category planograms with the category management partner.
• Use sales counterparts to understand regional and local product needs and improve category performance at retail.
• Learn inventory control and its impact on product fill levels and warehouse inventory turnover, and take part with the merchant team in improving performance across sales channels (RSC/RDC/DS/FDM).
• Build working relationships with cross-functional areas, the vendor community and Ace retailers.
• Use Ace technology tools such as the ACENET intranet, B1 and the Product Content Management system.
• Assist the merchant I and department merchandise manager with special projects and administrative functions, and keep accurate task trackers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (business, marketing or management a plus) or 2-4 years of related work experience in retail, sales or marketing.
• Detail-oriented, organized and proactive, with strong follow-through and ownership.
• Ability to work independently, with some supervision, and across teams in a fast-paced, cross-functional, multicultural environment.
• Preferred: experience supporting merchandising or category management activities.

Required skills

• Strong PC skills including Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Technology-adaptive approach to learning Ace's technology platform.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to product data accuracy.
