About the role

The Environmental Protection Specialist will support, propose, coordinate and implement environmental and social initiatives for the Water Program of the Panama Canal Authority. The role involves conducting analyses, developing recommendations, and strengthening environmental and social management across infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of the environmental and social management system for Water Program projects.
• Define scopes, deliverables, resources, schedules, cost estimates and procurement processes for projects.
• Develop specifications for environmental quality monitoring and establish environmental and social baselines.
• Coordinate with state institutions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
• Implement and monitor mechanisms for handling complaints, claims and information requests.

Required profile

• Panamanian nationality with a valid driver’s license and ability to swim.
• Advanced proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• University degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in environmental and social management of infrastructure, water resources, conservation or sustainable development projects.
