Resilient Watersheds Project Leader

About the role

United Nations Volunteers (UNV) seeks an experienced professional to lead the coordination and implementation of a resilient watersheds project in Panama. The role focuses on strengthening ecosystem‑based approaches, building partnerships and delivering effective climate‑resilience outcomes in collaboration with national counterparts and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project implementation, including annual work planning, budgeting and expenditure monitoring.
• Provide technical guidance and quality assurance through field visits and support to project partners.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants and institutional stakeholders, and serve as liaison with government counterparts.
• Organise and follow‑up Project Steering Committee and CAUCE group meetings.
• Monitor progress and contribute to narrative and financial reporting, knowledge sharing and lessons learned.
• Represent the project at technical events, presenting progress, results and recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environment, Natural Resources Management, Engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in project coordination, management and reporting.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in water resources, watershed or natural resources management, climate change or disaster risk reduction.
• Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working with government counterparts and inter‑institutional platforms.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
• Desirable experience in ecosystem‑based adaptation, climate‑risk analysis and capacity‑building.
