Director, Credit Risk Management – Financial Institutions & Infrastructure

About the role

IDB Invest, the private‑sector arm of the Inter‑American Development Bank, is seeking a senior professional to lead credit risk activities for Financial Institutions and the Infrastructure & Energy portfolio across Latin America and the Caribbean. The Director will guide a team of credit risk officers, support project origination, execution and management, and act as the voting risk member within assigned Delivery Units.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Credit Risk Management (MCR) Division’s activities for FIs and Infrastructure & Energy projects.
• Coordinate and mentor a team of credit risk officers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop, maintain and enforce credit risk policies, parameters and procedures.
• Review credit and investment proposals, assess risk, and support internal credit approval processes.
• Participate in portfolio supervision to validate risk ratings and monitor ongoing exposures.
• Strengthen the institution’s capacity to identify and manage credit risk in lending, treasury, investment and derivatives activities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in credit risk management within financial institutions, infrastructure or energy sectors.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary risk teams.
• Strong understanding of development finance, project finance and risk‑rating methodologies.
• Ability to work across multiple countries and collaborate with investment officers and clients.
