Database Administrator – SQL Server & MySQL

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Database Administrator to join our IT team in Panama City. The DBA will focus on developing, optimizing, and maintaining our SQL Server and MySQL databases that support services for real‑estate, banking and legal clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain database schemas, stored procedures, views and queries in SQL Server and MySQL.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using execution plans, indexing and tuning techniques.
• Conduct regular health checks, performance reviews and backup monitoring.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to meet application data requirements.
• Write and optimise complex SQL scripts for business and operational needs.
• Support day‑to‑day database operations, incident resolution and documentation of changes.
• Implement best practices for data storage, retrieval, security and high‑availability.
• Participate in cloud‑managed database initiatives (Azure SQL, Amazon RDS), migrations, version upgrades and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Advanced written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience working in a DevOps‑oriented setting and handling SLA‑driven performance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in T‑SQL and standard SQL.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL Server and MySQL.
• Knowledge of cloud databases such as Microsoft Azure SQL Database and Amazon RDS.
• Scripting ability in PowerShell, Python or Bash for automation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, schema versioning and Infrastructure as Code.
• Understanding of high‑availability, disaster‑recovery design, replication and failover.
• Experience with database security (encryption, access control, auditing) and monitoring tools.
