Controller – Senior Accounting Leader (Remote LATAM)

About the role

The company is a high‑growth US venture‑backed business seeking an experienced Controller to own the entire accounting function remotely from LATAM. You will be the senior accounting leader, partnering directly with the CEO, finance leadership, and department heads.

Key responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring calendar adherence, quality, and cycle‑time.
• Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash‑flow statements under US GAAP and present them to leadership, auditors, and the board.
• Lead final review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and fixed‑asset accounting.
• Research, document, and conclude on technical accounting matters such as revenue recognition, leases, equity, accruals, and capitalization.
• Manage multi‑entity consolidation, intercompany accounting, eliminations, and foreign‑currency translation.
• Establish and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, approval workflows, and reporting standards.
• Build and maintain close checklists, process narratives, and SOPs.
• Lead the annual audit, coordinate with auditors, prepare PBCs, and resolve findings.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll accounting, and expense processing with defined turnaround and accuracy standards.
• Ensure balance‑sheet integrity and accurate cash reporting for leadership.
• Provide FP&A and department leaders with reporting packages, KPIs, variance analysis, and root‑cause explanations.

Required profile

• 8–10+ years progressive accounting experience with direct leadership of an accounting team.
• Proven ownership of the close and financial statements on an independent basis.
• Strong command of US GAAP, including ASC 606 (revenue) and ASC 842 (leases).
• Experience with multi‑entity consolidation and intercompany eliminations.
• Track record designing accounting processes and controls from the ground up.
• Experience leading audits and managing external auditors.
• Comfort operating remotely with US‑based leadership, auditors, and CPA firms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
