Communications & Knowledge Management Intern

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Latin America and the Caribbean Office is looking for a motivated intern to support communications and knowledge management for its Chemicals and Pollution Action Programme. The role will involve assisting with the promotion of regional networks, events and public‑awareness materials on chemicals, waste and pollution.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating and disseminating webinars, technical exchanges and other events for regional pollution networks.
• Update web pages and draft informative notes on network activities and project progress.
• Help prepare progress reports, presentations and meeting minutes for steering committees and focal‑point meetings.
• Compile and organise knowledge‑sharing outputs from regional cooperation initiatives.
• Support the creation of public‑awareness materials on plastics, micro‑plastics and other pollution topics.
• Contribute to the coordination of face‑to‑face events and other programme activities as needed.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in communication, graphic design, public awareness, international relations, social sciences or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in United Nations work and commitment to the UN Charter, with the ability to work respectfully with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency with design and data‑visualisation tools for creating outreach materials.
• Experience using social‑media platforms to raise public awareness.
