Collections Representative I – Hybrid

About the role

Grainger is seeking a Collections Representative I to join its finance team. In this hybrid position you will provide high‑level service to customers while managing the company’s receivables and supporting the overall cash‑flow health of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Apply professional collection techniques to identify reasons for delinquent accounts.
• Analyze, monitor and follow‑up on overdue balances, ensuring timely resolution.
• Collaborate with Credit, Sales and branch partners to remove payment barriers.
• Provide customers with documentation for disputed accounts and maintain detailed contact notes.
• Work with AR specialists to reconcile un‑reconciled checks.
• Recommend compromise settlements, partial payments, extensions, fraud detection, and third‑party collection actions.
• Supply Credit Managers with information to evaluate payment terms and DSO.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related quantitative discipline preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of collections experience; 3‑5 years in finance, collections, accounting or process resolution preferred.
• Strong negotiation, decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize activities that drive results while meeting deadlines.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheet maintenance.
