Civil & Structural Designer – Energy Infrastructure

About the role

We are designing the grid of the future! The Civil / Structural Designer is responsible for developing detailed civil and structural drawings for substations, transmission lines, BESS facilities, and other energy infrastructure projects. This role supports engineering teams by converting conceptual layouts, engineering calculations, markups, vendor information, and technical inputs into accurate, construction‑ready drawing packages.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare coordinated civil and structural construction drawings for substations, transmission lines, BESS, and related projects.
• Develop Civil 3D surfaces, grading plans, profiles, drainage systems, access roads, and cut/fill calculations.
• Create detailed structural drawings for concrete foundations, steel components, reinforcement, anchor bolts, base plates, and equipment supports.
• Interpret engineering markups, calculations, surveys, geotechnical reports, vendor drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate designs with electrical, geotechnical, and other disciplines to resolve conflicts.
• Review shop, fabrication, and vendor submittals for consistency with design documents.
• Support permitting submissions and prepare 30%, 60%, 90%, IFC, and as‑built drawing packages.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 2–5 years of civil and structural design/drafting experience, preferably on substation and distribution projects.
• Strong proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD, including surface modeling, grading, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, and drainage design.
• Experience preparing detailed structural drawings for foundations, footings, mats, piles, slabs, and steel connections.
• Ability to manage survey and topographic data (point files, LiDAR, USGS datasets).
