AS/400 (iSeries) Operator – Level 1

About the role

We are seeking a proactive AS/400 (iSeries) Operator – Level 1 to support daily system operations and maintenance. The role involves continuous monitoring of system health, batch jobs, backups, storage, and alerts within a 24x7 environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor iSeries system alerts, including servers, HMC, storage, and tape libraries.
• Manage batch job processing using i Job Schedulers and ISV tools.
• Track operating system thresholds such as CPU, memory, disk usage, and performance metrics.
• Oversee backup jobs via native and advanced job schedulers.
• Generate daily system status reports and perform routine operational checks.
• Create, update, and close incident tickets following ITIL procedures.
• Maintain tape libraries, media inventory, and printer configurations.
• Assist with user and group profile administration.
• Perform basic log monitoring using BRMS and system logs.
• Monitor High Availability environments and MQ processes.
• Support HMC console monitoring and basic administration.

Required profile

• 1 to 4 years of experience with AS/400 (iSeries) operations.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts, weekends, and on‑call support in a 24x7 setting.
• Basic understanding of ITIL incident and ticket management.
