AI and Transport Digital Transformation Consultant

About the role

The Inter‑American Development Bank (IDB) is looking for a consultant to drive its Transport Division’s AI and digital transformation agenda across Latin America and the Caribbean. The role will support internal teams and external partners in embedding digital tools, data‑driven decision‑making and emerging AI applications into transport projects and policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring the Division’s AI and digital transformation strategy.
• Design and deliver workshops, training sessions and practical guidance to raise AI and digital literacy among Transport staff.
• Identify, assess and disseminate emerging technologies, best practices and use cases such as intelligent transport systems, digital twins, mobility data platforms and related AI solutions.
• Produce knowledge products, sector studies, case studies, analytical reports, briefing notes and internal communications on digital transformation in transport.
• Support the integration of AI and digital components into sovereign‑guaranteed loans, technical cooperation operations and advisory activities.
• Assist with the administration, monitoring and reporting of digital transformation initiatives across the Division.

Required profile

• Proven experience in digital transformation, AI or data‑driven projects within the transport or infrastructure sector.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to translate technical concepts into actionable guidance for non‑technical audiences.
• Experience designing and delivering training or capacity‑building sessions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal area leaders, operational teams and external partners.
• Familiarity with the policy and development context of Latin America and the Caribbean is an advantage.
