Accountant – Financial Reporting & Tax Compliance (Panama)

About the role

Business IT is seeking a qualified Accountant to join its finance team in Panama. The role focuses on ensuring accurate accounting records, timely financial reporting, and full compliance with local tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and validate all company accounting entries.
• Coordinate and execute monthly and annual closing processes.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements and managerial reports.
• Guarantee compliance with Panama’s tax and fiscal obligations.
• Oversee bank reconciliations and manage accounts receivable and payable.
• Control cash flow and develop financial projections.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Implement and strengthen internal controls and best financial practices.
• Manage relationships with banks and regulatory authorities.
• Identify and drive improvements in accounting and financial processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Proven experience preparing and analysing financial statements.
• Strong knowledge of Panama’s tax and accounting regulations.
• Familiarity with IFRS/NIIF standards.
• Experience in monthly and annual closing cycles.
• Knowledge of bank reconciliations, accounts receivable and payable.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using accounting ERP systems.
• Desirable: knowledge of Panama’s Technical Accounting Board regulations.
• Desirable: specialization or diploma in Finance, Taxation or IFRS.
