Environmental Management Expert

About the role

The Environmental Management Expert will support UNEP's Medium‑Term Strategy and national UNSDCF priorities by delivering integrated advisory, policy and project‑pipeline reports and providing technical coordination for key waste‑management initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Produce three bimonthly Integrated Advisory, Policy and Project Pipeline Reports that map high‑priority environmental project opportunities, strategic partnerships, technical advisory briefs, policy advice, institutional frameworks and capacity‑building materials.
• Provide technical and coordination support to the Dumpsite Closing Coalition, the LAC University Consortium on Sustainable Waste Management, and UNEP’s Zero Waste and Extended Producer Responsibility initiatives.
• Prepare meeting agendas, minutes and briefing materials for coalition focal‑point meetings and regional cooperation programmes.
• Generate coordination reports, action plans and policy input documents for stakeholders and national ministries of environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental project management, policy analysis and capacity‑building within UN or multilateral contexts.
• Ability to synthesize technical data into clear, actionable reports.
• Familiarity with UNEP strategies, national development frameworks and waste‑management concepts.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with ministries of environment and diverse stakeholders.
