Assistant General Manager – Eco Resort

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Assistant General Manager to support the daily operations of Casa Cayuco Eco‑Adventure Lodge, an award‑winning boutique eco‑resort on Isla Bastimentos, Bocas del Toro, Panama. The role reports directly to the General Manager and will act as the senior operational leader when the GM is off‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 45+ staff across Guest Services, Activities, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance, Spa, Transportation and other departments.
• Oversee staffing, guest arrivals and departures, excursions, meals, transportation and daily property logistics.
• Assume full responsibility for lodge operations in the General Manager’s absence.
• Support recruitment, training, scheduling, performance management and employee development.
• Develop sales relationships with travel agents, tourism partners, groups and other clients.
• Assist with budgeting, payroll, purchasing, inventory, expense control, reporting and revenue management.
• Monitor service standards, property conditions, maintenance needs and operating procedures.
• Manage property improvements, contractors, purchasing and project timelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, enhance guest experience and grow revenue.
• Support community partnerships and projects in neighboring communities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, employment, environmental and hospitality regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of progressive hospitality management experience.
• Previous role as Assistant General Manager, Hotel Manager, Operations Manager or similar senior leader.
• Proven ability to manage a hotel, resort, lodge or comparable hospitality operation.
• Experience leading multiple departments and a large team.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, financial management and problem‑solving skills.
• Professional fluency in English and Spanish.
• Legal authorization to work in Panama.
• Willingness to live on‑site at a remote, boat‑access‑only property.
