Regional Specialist, LAC – Insurance and Risk Finance (Home-Based)

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a Regional Specialist for the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region to lead insurance and risk finance initiatives. This home‑based position supports the LAC Facility for Financing Resilient Human Development and contributes to UNDP’s Sustainable Finance Hub.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on insurance and risk finance to mobilize public and private investments in the LAC region.
• Support policy development and reform related to sustainable finance and risk management.
• Collaborate with multi‑stakeholder platforms, partners, and UNDP country teams to design and implement financing solutions.
• Produce analytical reports, risk assessments, and financial models to inform decision‑making.
• Contribute to the development of UNDP’s strategic objectives on crisis resilience and sustainable finance.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in finance, economics, insurance, risk management or a related field.
• Significant experience in sustainable finance, insurance, or risk finance, preferably within the LAC context.
• Demonstrated ability to work remotely and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
