Partnerships and Interagency Engagement Intern

About the role

The Partnerships and Interagency Engagement Intern will support the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean in strengthening collaboration across UN agencies, governments and civil society. This six‑month, full‑time, unpaid internship is based in Panama City and provides direct exposure to regional disaster risk reduction initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support coordination and follow‑up of inter‑agency collaboration within the Regional Collaborative Platform LAC and the Issue‑Based Coalition on Climate Change and Resilience.
• Assist in preparing agendas, background materials, research notes and summaries for the Peer Support Group and other engagements.
• Provide support to national and regional engagements with the United Nations system.
• Help plan and coordinate the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas and the Caribbean (RP27), including stakeholder mapping and briefing material preparation.

Required profile

• Current university student or recent graduate in international relations, public policy, environmental studies or a related field.
• Strong interest in disaster risk reduction, climate change and multilateral cooperation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
