Senior Metallurgist, Concentrator

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a Senior Metallurgist to lead the flotation process at its concentrator. Reporting to the Technical Superintendent, you will define, monitor and report on the plant’s metallurgical strategy to maximise copper concentrate production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise the flotation metallurgical process to exceed recovery, concentrate quality and tailings grade KPIs.
• Provide daily to monthly technical support to operations, analysing process performance indicators and in‑plant sampling results.
• Maintain compliance with Panamanian laws, HSE standards and company policies.
• Prepare clear operational performance reports for both upward and downward communication.
• Collaborate with multi‑cultural teams and ensure data integrity in process information systems (e.g., PI Process Book).

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in large‑scale metallurgical operations, preferably in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in base‑metal flotation and met‑accounting processes.
• Strong analytical ability to identify bottlenecks and implement systematic solutions.
• Fluency in Spanish (required) and proficiency in English (highly regarded).
