Senior Metallurgist – Accounting & Strategic Planning

About the role

The Senior Metallurgist – Accounting & Strategic Planning provides critical information on plant operation, recovery rates, and material balances to support operational and metallurgical decisions. The role leads the development of short‑ and medium‑term production planning, forecasting, and reporting for key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Generate accurate short‑ and medium‑term production plans, forecasts and reconciliations for the process plant.
• Manage power consumption forecasting and integrate additional variables into the metallurgical accounting system.
• Oversee critical plant sampling for monthly reconciliations and support internal QA/QC.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, train national direct reports, and ensure knowledge transfer.
• Liaise with mining, geology, finance and other departments to produce representative production plans.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in base‑metal processing facilities.
• Strong commitment to safety leadership and ability to follow HSE policies.
• Proven ability to resolve complex technical problems and manage multi‑element mass balancing.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and presentation skills with ability to multitask.

• Metallurgical accounting and material‑balancing software.
• Database management systems.
• Advanced MS Excel, Power BI, Minitab.
• English and Spanish verbal and written communication.
• Computer fluency with Microsoft Office‑based programs.
