Senior Buyer

About the role

APM Terminals is seeking a Senior Buyer to support procurement operations across the Americas region. You will work within a structured procurement framework, interacting with regional and global supply‑chain stakeholders to ensure continuous operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end purchase requisitions, from validation to delivery, while ensuring policy compliance and KPI adherence.
• Validate purchase requests and supporting documentation before initiating sourcing activities.
• Identify, qualify, and engage suppliers by analysing market pricing, availability, lead times and service capability.
• Conduct technical and commercial evaluations, coordinate tender processes and support supplier award decisions.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and delivery conditions to optimise total cost of ownership.
• Expedite purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to guarantee timely delivery and uninterrupted operations.
• Analyse spend patterns and recurring needs to uncover cost‑saving opportunities and shape long‑term sourcing strategies.

Required profile

• Continuous‑improvement mindset with a curiosity for solving root‑cause problems.
• Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, business administration, management or a related field.
• Solid experience in operational procurement, including sourcing, vendor management and purchasing processes.
• Proven negotiation and analytical abilities, balancing cost, quality, service and stakeholder expectations.
• Strong capability to handle high volumes of requisitions, prioritise effectively and meet tight deadlines.
