Secondary Assistant Principal – Grades 6‑12 Leadership

About the role

The Secondary Assistant Principal provides comprehensive leadership for Grades 6‑12, supporting high‑quality teaching, student well‑being, faculty growth, and effective school operations. Reporting to the Secondary School Principal, the role is a visible, accessible administrator who builds strong relationships and ensures consistent implementation of school systems and expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative leadership for teaching, learning and assessment priorities across Grades 6‑12.
• Supervise, observe and evaluate assigned faculty, delivering evidence‑based feedback and follow‑through.
• Coordinate student‑support services, including universal, targeted and intensive interventions, and manage escalation of student concerns.
• Oversee school‑wide operations such as master scheduling, attendance, daily logistics and emergency procedures.
• Lead the planning and administration of standardized assessments and use data to inform school improvement.
• Promote an inclusive school culture, build relationships with students, families and the community, and advance staff well‑being initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field with a valid teaching or school‑leadership credential.
• Successful secondary teaching and/or educational leadership experience, including faculty supervision and evaluation.
• Experience developing and managing a complex secondary school master schedule and coordinating standardized assessments.
• Strong understanding of secondary instruction, assessment, student support and adolescent development.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality and lead collaboratively.
