Second Engineer (3000+ kW) – Marine Engineering

About the role

The Marine Engineer will be based full‑time in Panama City, overseeing the technical condition and safe operation of NAVESCO’s fleet. This position focuses on maintaining high reliability of vessels equipped with propulsion power above 3000 kW.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and execute maintenance and repair tasks for marine machinery and auxiliary systems.
• Monitor vessel performance, fuel efficiency and compliance with safety, environmental and class regulations.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, coordinating actions with shipboard and shore‑based teams.
• Maintain accurate technical records, reports and documentation.
• Support dry‑dock periods, inspections and continuous improvement of technical procedures.
• Collaborate with operations to minimise downtime and optimise vessel reliability.

Required profile

• Significant experience in the marine industry, preferably in commercial shipping or navy‑type environments.
• Marine Engineering degree or equivalent professional certification.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on safety and reliability.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work with multicultural teams.
• Willingness to travel to vessels, shipyards and ports as required.
