About the role
The Resident Coordinator (RC) is the highest‑ranking United Nations representative in Panama, responsible for leading the UN Country Team and ensuring coordinated implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the 2030 Agenda.
Key responsibilities
- Represent the United Nations at the highest governmental levels and foster engagement with civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia, and the private sector.
- Lead the UN Country Team to coordinate operational development activities and system‑wide responses in support of national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Report annually to the host government on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
- Ensure accountability and effective collaboration across all UN development system entities operating in Panama.
Required profile
- Extensive experience within the United Nations development system or comparable international development environment.
- Deep understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals, the 2030 Agenda, and UN coordination mechanisms.
- Proven leadership ability to manage a diverse UN Country Team and engage high‑level stakeholders.
- Strong diplomatic skills and the capacity to represent the UN to the Secretary‑General and the host government.
