Mechanical Maintenance Specialist – Mining Operations

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist to lead complex interventions on critical mining equipment at the Cobre Panamá operation. The role focuses on maximizing equipment reliability, availability and safety through advanced diagnostics, fault analysis and technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and lead complex mechanical maintenance tasks on critical assets such as mills, crushers, high‑capacity pumps and transport systems.
• Perform advanced fault diagnosis, root‑cause analysis and propose corrective improvements.
• Mentor junior mechanics and validate technical quality before equipment release.
• Participate in predictive inspections and condition‑based maintenance planning.
• Coordinate with planning to optimise intervention schedules while ensuring strict compliance with safety and LOTO procedures.

Required profile

• Technical Higher Education or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Mechanics, Electromechanics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in mining, processing plants or heavy industry.
• Proven experience with rotating equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and large‑scale pumps and crushers.
