About the role
The HSE Advisor will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System for Hitachi Rail projects in Panama, ensuring compliance with international standards, local legislation and company policies.
Key responsibilities
- Establish, document and maintain the HSE Management System in line with IMS, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Develop and execute HSE programs, hazard identification, risk assessments and control measures.
- Conduct legislative audits, inspections and annual HSE audits, reporting performance and recommending corrective actions.
- Coordinate HSE training, communication, and consultation with project teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Manage emergency response procedures and ensure incident reporting, investigation and root‑cause analysis.
Required profile
- Academic degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Risk Prevention Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in rail or turnkey construction projects.
- In‑depth knowledge of Panamanian safety, health and environmental regulations and ISO 45001/14001.
- Valid non‑probationary Class “C” driver’s license.
Required skills
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Risk assessment and hazard identification.
- MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint).
- Ability to produce accurate written reports and electronic communications.
