Executive Housekeeper

About the role

The Executive Housekeeper is a senior member of the shipboard management team, responsible for overseeing all housekeeping functions and staff on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. This role reports to the Hotel Director and ensures that guest areas meet brand cleanliness and presentation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, maintenance and presentation standards across guest staterooms, balconies, corridors, officer cabins, laundry, lockers and storage areas.
• Lead, motivate and coach a team of over 70 housekeeping employees, providing classroom‑style and on‑the‑job training.
• Manage the Housekeeping division schedule in coordination with shoreside support and oversee laundry operations.
• Develop and monitor yearly budgets for housekeeping and laundry cost centres, including revenue streams such as laundry, floral cart and tuxedo program.
• Drive performance against guest satisfaction ratings, quality reviews, employee satisfaction scores and health inspections.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of managerial/operational experience in housekeeping and laundry for large 4‑ or 5‑star hotels, cruise lines or comparable hospitality operations.
• Proven ability to supervise a team of at least 70 employees and manage budgets exceeding $1 million annually.
• Strong results‑oriented leadership style with excellent problem‑resolution and diplomatic communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office and other hospitality software packages.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment operation, chemical handling and linen management.
• Understanding of public health standards and compliance procedures.
