About the role

The Panama Canal Authority is launching a three‑year Apprenticeship School to develop technical talent for the long‑term operation and maintenance of the canal. Selected apprentices will receive both classroom instruction and hands‑on training in key trades essential to canal infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in theoretical and practical training modules covering construction, electricity, electronics, mechanics and metalworking.
• Perform supervised work in workshops, operational areas and other Canal facilities.
• Develop technical, operational and safety competencies required for canal operations.
• Complete a designated trade (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical) according to the program curriculum.

Required profile

• Panamanian nationality.
• Technical secondary education (Bachiller Técnico Industrial) obtained within the last seven years or expected by December 2026, in construction, electricity, electronics, mechanics or metalworking.
• Relevant work experience or documented training in one of the listed trades is a plus.
