Elementary Inclusion Learning Assistant

About the role

The Elementary Inclusion Learning Assistant works within the Inclusion Program to support high‑needs students in elementary classrooms. Reporting to the Division Principal or Coordinator of Student Services, the assistant collaborates closely with the Inclusion Lead Teacher, homeroom teachers, specialists, and administrators to promote learning, independence, and social inclusion.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individualized learning opportunities aligned with each student’s IEP and developmental stage.
• Implement targeted interventions and instructional strategies under the guidance of the Inclusion Lead Teacher.
• Collect and record data on student progress, sharing observations with teachers and stakeholders.
• Foster a respectful, welcoming classroom environment that supports academic and social‑emotional growth.
• Develop and manage classroom resources, offering feedback to students to support their growth.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and student services to ensure responsive support plans.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in supporting neurodivergent or high‑needs learners.
• Ability to work under the guidance of an Inclusion Lead Teacher and collaborate with multiple school staff.
• Commitment to promoting student independence, inclusion, and belonging.
• Strong observational and data‑collection skills.
