Elementary Homeroom Teacher

About the role

The Homeroom Teacher creates a supportive, restorative and community‑focused classroom where every elementary student can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. The role centers on building strong relationships, proactive communication with families and fostering an inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive homeroom that promotes school culture, attendance and positive behavior.
• Develop strong student relationships through community‑building circles, regular check‑ins and consistent adult presence.
• Apply restorative practices to resolve conflicts, support behavioral growth and reinforce classroom culture.
• Monitor academic progress and well‑being, intervening early when concerns arise.
• Serve as primary liaison between home and school, communicating student progress and concerns to families.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff and administrators to coordinate comprehensive student support.
• Supervise students during advisory periods, assemblies, special events and other assigned activities.
• Assist students in keeping lockers and personal spaces organized.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Valid teaching certification and/or relevant teaching experience.
• Experience working with English language learners in diverse classrooms.
• Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and patience.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
