Director of Engineering

About the role

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and inspiring his or her team to achieve performance metrics. The role involves strategizing, project management and staff management within the hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site inspections of critical equipment and address failures that impact hotel operations.
• Review and approve purchase orders essential to hotel operations.
• Consult with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors and design professionals on work procedures, construction issues, MEP systems, testing & commissioning and fire & life safety.
• Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers and clients on behalf of the owner or developer.
• Plan, organize and direct activities related to the maintenance of structures, facilities and systems.
• Prepare and submit cost estimates, progress reports and cost tracking reports.
• Develop and implement quality control programs and provide equipment specifications to support purchasing decisions.
• Maintain communication with corporate colleagues and mentor employees to ensure adherence to service standards.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit, interview and hire engineering team members.
• Report to work on time, wearing the appropriate uniform and name badge while complying with personal appearance standards.
• Participate in budget planning and control and comply with HR policies, fire safety, hygiene, health and occupational safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of management experience in the engineering field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Project management skills.
• English proficiency at B2 level.
