Customs Clearance Engineer – Latin America

About the role

Huawei is looking for a Customs Clearance Engineer to join its Latin America regional team. The role ensures smooth import and export processes, mitigates customs risks and leverages trade agreements across multiple countries.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, interpret and evaluate customs policies, trade regulations and fiscal measures in Latin American markets, providing actionable insights to regional leadership.
• Develop and maintain a regional policy analysis framework, implement customs controls, trade facilitation initiatives and manage tariff preferences.
• Identify, assess and monitor customs compliance risks, conduct root‑cause analysis and drive corrective action plans to reduce exposure.
• Support country teams in resolving complex clearance issues and managing customs audits, ensuring minimal supply‑chain disruption.
• Provide expertise on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification, create roadmaps for certification, recertification and ongoing compliance.
• Design innovative clearance solutions to improve efficiency and achieve cost savings on duties and related expenses.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local customs authorities, representing Huawei in workshops, forums and bilateral meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Economics, Logistics or Business Administration.
• Comprehensive knowledge of customs valuation, tariff classification (HS codes), rules of origin, customs licensing and post‑clearance controls.
• Proven experience in import/export operations and customs risk management across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to translate regulatory changes into business recommendations.
