Coordinator, Shift Operations

About the role

First Quantum is seeking a Coordinator, Shift Operations to lead the day‑to‑day execution of its processing plant in Panama. The role combines technical oversight, safety leadership and cross‑functional coordination to ensure continuous, high‑performance mineral processing.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Panamanian laws and implement Safety and Environmental Management Systems for the processing plant.
• Drive a strong safety culture, manage work permits, lock‑out procedures and promptly address incidents.
• Support production budgeting and deliver optimized equipment performance to meet throughput, recovery and product quality targets.
• Identify and correct plant defects, balancing short‑term production with long‑term preventative measures.
• Maintain strong relationships with Mining, Maintenance, Port, TMF and Technical Production leadership teams.
• Coordinate with the Commercial Department and other stakeholders to align operational goals.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Process Engineering, Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or related field; postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
• Minimum 15 years of technical and leadership experience in large, complex metallurgical process operations within a multinational mining company.
• Extensive experience with base‑metal crushing/grinding and flotation circuits; copper concentrator experience preferred.
• Proven knowledge of best practices in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) management systems.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication abilities, and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
