About the role

The Mathematics Area Coordinator will lead, design, articulate, and supervise the mathematics curriculum from Primary through Secondary levels. The role ensures academic excellence, vertical and horizontal coherence, conceptual rigor, and continuity of mathematical content across all grades, while fostering innovative teaching methodologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and supervision of the mathematics curriculum for Primary and Secondary education.
• Ensure curriculum aligns with the regulations of the Ministry of Education of Panama (MEDUCA) and the institution’s academic standards.
• Maintain vertical and horizontal coherence of mathematical concepts and content.
• Promote innovative and active teaching methodologies.
• Oversee curriculum design, program alignment, and implementation of active learning strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education with a specialization in Mathematics, or Engineering.
• Mandatory pedagogical qualification (Secondary Education Teacher Certification or a Master’s in Education).
• Desirable Master’s degree in Mathematics Didactics, Curriculum and Teaching, or Educational Management/Leadership.
• Minimum 5 years of experience teaching Mathematics at Primary and/or Secondary levels.
• At least 2–3 years in department head, academic coordination, or pedagogical leadership roles.
• Proven experience in curriculum design, program alignment, and active teaching methodologies.
