About the role

First Quantum Minerals is seeking a Senior Buyer to join the Cobre Panamá team. The role is responsible for managing complex, high‑impact procurement processes that ensure timely supply of critical goods and services essential for continuous operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end procurement of complex, critical, or high‑value purchases in line with operational priorities, timelines and budgets.
• Lead tenders, conduct commercial analysis and negotiate with suppliers to optimise cost, service levels and contract terms.
• Serve as the primary liaison between Procurement and internal user areas, providing data‑driven recommendations.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks while ensuring compliance with internal policies, controls and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor critical purchase orders, guarantee document traceability and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably in mining, large‑scale industrial or engineering environments.
• Proven track record managing complex, high‑value purchases.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems (preferably JD Edwards), sourcing, logistics and supply‑risk management.
• Advanced English proficiency and excellent negotiation, analytical and stakeholder‑management abilities.
