Compliance Officer – Remote (Panama)

About the role

The Compliance Officer will be based in Panama and work remotely, overseeing regulatory and internal compliance for Bamboo’s global payment operations. You will ensure that the company’s processes meet all applicable laws and standards while supporting the rapid growth of its payment platform.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update compliance policies and procedures across the organization.
• Monitor adherence to local and international regulations, including AML, KYC and data‑protection rules.
• Support risk assessments related to payment services and financial operations.
• Collaborate with finance, product and operations teams to implement effective controls.
• Respond to regulatory inquiries and conduct internal audits and reviews.
• Prepare compliance reports and provide guidance and training to staff.
• Track regulatory changes in key jurisdictions and advise on the impact of new products or partnerships.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Bamboo’s compliance framework.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law from Panama (mandatory).
• Professional certifications in compliance or risk management are a plus.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Strong experience interpreting and applying financial and payment‑related regulations.
• Analytical ability to assess risk, analyze data and evaluate control effectiveness.
• Excellent written communication for drafting policies, reports and guidance.
• Relevant experience in a compliance, risk or legal role within fintech, payments, banking or financial services.
• Familiarity with global regulatory environments such as AML, KYC and data‑protection.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities and maintain high attention to detail.
