Category Manager – Retail – Senior Buyer – Panamá

About the role

We are looking for a senior Category Manager to lead the hardware category for a leading retail company in Panama. The role combines strategic purchasing, market analysis and supplier management to drive profitability and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage the product portfolio for the hardware category.
• Analyze market trends and consumer behavior to identify business opportunities.
• Establish and maintain relationships with international suppliers, negotiating favorable commercial terms.
• Coordinate pricing and promotional strategies to maximize sales and margins.
• Supervise inventory levels and ensure availability of key products.
• Collaborate with internal teams to implement category strategies effectively.
• Prepare performance reports and sales analyses to support decision‑making.
• Monitor competitor activity and adapt strategies as needed.

Required profile

• Academic background in administration, marketing or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of category management, strategic purchasing and market analysis.
• At least 8 years of experience in retail categories such as construction, hardware, furniture or consumer electronics.
• Proven negotiation skills and ability to build effective commercial relationships.
• Advanced English proficiency.
