About the role
The Mechanical Foreman will lead a team of mechanical technicians and qualified workers in the maintenance, repair, and installation of heavy mining equipment and associated infrastructure within a large‑scale mining operation.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and direct a team of mechanical technicians, assemblers, and other qualified professionals in daily mechanical maintenance activities.
- Plan, schedule, and assign work orders for preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of diverse mining equipment.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections to identify potential issues, ensure safety compliance, and maintain operational availability.
- Diagnose complex mechanical problems and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.
- Ensure all work follows company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and deliver training to improve skills and productivity.
- Manage resources such as personnel, materials, tools, and equipment efficiently.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and logs.
- Collaborate with operations, electrical, planning and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and reduce operational interruptions.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis for significant equipment failures and contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance processes.
Required profile
- Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years proven experience as a Mechanical Foreman or similar supervisory role in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy mining equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel engine, power‑train, and structural systems.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling and execution principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics and manuals.
- Solid grasp of mining safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong communication skills in Spanish; English proficiency highly desirable.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Willingness to work in a remote, challenging mining environment with shift and extended hours as required.
