About the role

OTAMERICA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for its terminal in Colón, Panama. The role supports preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure the proper operation and preservation of equipment, systems, and facilities, while adhering to the company’s health, safety, environmental, and technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in mechanical, fabrication, welding, and repair tasks on equipment and installations according to technical expertise.
• Support technical staff during maintenance of static and dynamic mechanical equipment.
• Help with assembly, disassembly, cleaning, adjustment, and repair of mechanical components.
• Participate in metal cutting, fabrication, and welding of structures or parts when qualified.
• Carry out general maintenance activities such as painting, plumbing, masonry, and material handling.
• Perform maintenance work at height, in operational areas, and in the dock zone following established procedures.

Required profile

• Industrial high school diploma, technical or vocational training in Industrial Mechanics, Welding, Metal Construction, Industrial Maintenance or related fields.
• Minimum one year of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanics, fabrication or welding.
• Practical knowledge in at least one area: mechanical equipment maintenance/repair, welding, or metal structure fabrication.
• Ability to use manual and electric tools safely.
• Willingness to work at height and in operational zones.
• Commitment to safety standards and work procedures.
